"It might be more old-school than other similar games, but Wallachia: Reign of Dracula still offers rewarding action, skilful level design, and some excellent music. With Konami seemingly content to sleep on its popular Castlevania series for the time being – outside of smartphone games, of course – this (alongside the likes of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and its sequel) might be as close as we're likely to get to a brand-new "old-school" Castlevania outing on Switch. It's a good job, then, that Migami Games knows Konami's franchise so well that it has created a truly convincing imitation – but one which has enough ideas of its own to stand out from its inspiration."

Pachislot Akumajou Dracula turns slot machine mechanics into a Castlevania-themed experience. It uses characters from Curse of Darkness and other series entries like Trevor Belmont and Dracula, blending reel spins with occasional animated clips. Gameplay focuses on hitting paylines while earning bonus rounds that trigger short cinematic moments. The single-player mode prioritizes random rewards over a traditional story, relying on familiar faces and dramatic flourishes to keep things engaging. Launched in 2014 for Android, iOS, and arcade cabinets, the game exists in a loose trilogy with sequels released in 2010 and 2012. While its narrative is sparse and fragmented, it hints at a larger struggle between Trevor and Dracula across alternate timelines. The alternate universe framing lets characters interact in new ways, with sequel connections adding context for longtime fans. Simple mechanics meet recognizable horror iconography in a format that leans heavily into Konami’s pachislot traditions.
Being a pachislot with vaguely connected cinematics occurring randomly during play, the game has no coherent narrative like more traditional games in the series. These cutscenes exists to tease the player, but contain little actual story content. However, going by comments on the official developer's blog, the game does tell a story, although most of it requires the player's imagination to fill in the blanks. On the blog it's written the game is "another story", a term sometimes used to imply the setting takes place in a parallel world or alternate universe. Because the game is mainly based on Castlevania: Curse of Darkness some of the characters resemble their incarnations from the IGA continuity. Together with Pachislot Akumajō Dracula II, it tells the same story of Trevor fighting Count Dracula, who has been revived with the assistance of Angela. It should also be noted that from the brief interactions between Trevor and Dracula, it's implied they already share a past. This would be further explored in Pachislot Akumajō Dracula III, which is a prequel to the previous two games.
