About

Pact of Joy is a first-person adventure set in a sunken research facility where secrets fester beneath the waves. You play Victor Cortes navigating the decaying halls of Phorcys Station, a former Aegis site now overrun by a mysterious cult. Your goal is to locate a missing person named Lila while uncovering clues about a phenomenon called the Buffer. Exploration drives the experience as you piece together fragmented logs, avoid hostile factions, and navigate environments designed to disorient. The game leans heavily on atmospheric tension with dim lighting and echoing sounds amplifying the sense of isolation. The story ties into two earlier games in the series but stands as a self-contained mystery. Players often highlight the claustrophobic design of the underwater base and the unsettling tone created by cryptic audio recordings. While puzzle elements are sparse, the focus on environmental storytelling and moral ambiguity in key decisions has drawn praise from fans of slow-burn narratives. Early reviews note the game’s willingness to let players get lost both literally and figuratively.

Storyline

Set in the same world as Test of Courage and Born Into Fear, you’ll assume the role of Victor Cortes as you investigate the signs of a potential Buffer at the abandoned, underwater Aegis facility, Phorcys Station. There’s much more going on than meets the eye. Your organization has heard rumors that a cult-like group has moved into the installation. If you want to succeed in your mission of finding, Lila, you’ll need to search for the Buffer and uncover the secrets of the Children of Joy.
