Paratopic is a first person exploration game set in a decaying, surreal world filled with abandoned factories and shadowy corridors. You move through environments rendered in blocky 90s-style 3D, uncovering fragments of a fractured narrative by collecting tapes and piecing together cryptic lore. The tension comes from isolation and environmental unease rather than jump scares, with sound design and flickering visuals amplifying the creepy atmosphere. The game’s minimalist approach lets its strange world breathe, with abstract art and glitchy effects creating a disorienting mood. Developed by Arbitrary Metric and released in 2018, it has a small but dedicated following on PC and Mac.
