About

can You’re running a Roman governor’s desk in Pax Augusta, balancing city building, resource management, and political ambition. Start with a frontier settlement, construct roads and markets to draw settlers, then expand into mines, bathhouses, and gladiator arenas. Trade routes and tax income fuel your rise, but neglect public needs and watch riots break out. Every decision affects your reputation with the senate and emperor, shaping whether you’re a loyal administrator or a power-hungry schemer. The game shines in its layered strategy, managing infrastructure is just the base. As wealth grows, you shift from governor to senator, then plot your path to emperor through alliances or backstabbing. With over 200 building types and intricate economic systems, it’s a deep simulation for history buffs and city builders. No multiplayer, but the single-player campaign offers a 50+ hour grind from provincial outpost to imperial throne. Released in 2025, it’s already drawing comparisons to classic civ builders for its focus on ancient Rome’s gritty bureaucracy.

Storyline

As the empire expands its borders, capable governors are sought to found new cities in order to consolidate the Roman claim to the newly conquered land. You build a small settlement along a newly constructed imperial road. You attract new inhabitants to the city by building a harbor and a forum. As your tax revenue increases, you begin to mine raw materials and construct new buildings to meet the needs of the population. Baths, theaters, gladiator schools, slave markets, etc. not only serve to keep your inhabitants entertained, but also to provide them with work. Import marble and other raw materials from distant regions and build monumental temples and palaces! As a skillful governor, you will quickly catch the eye of the senate or the emperor. They will assign you new provinces to colonize. As you increase your private fortune, you will eventually be able to afford to become a senator. From then on, you will also become involved in political intrigues. Of course, you can also start your own intrigues, perhaps with enough money and power to reach the highest title: Emperor of Rome.
