Penny Racers is a PlayStation racing game where players steer tiny car models inspired by Takara’s Choro Q toy line. The game features 12 tracks split into three types including tarmac, winter ice, and rally dirt circuits. Single player races run alongside split screen matches for two players on one system. The track variety and direct two player mode set it apart. Released in 1996 it’s a relic from the PlayStation’s early days and the first Choro Q game outside Japan since 1984. A niche title with a small but dedicated following among retro racers.
