Phantasy Star Online 2 is an action RPG built for teams. Play solo or group up to four for missions, or jump into zones with up to twelve players. Choose from nine classes and tweak abilities to fit your style. The combat mixes melee and ranged attacks with timed skill combos. Missions shift between story beats and optional side tasks. Free-to-play with optional microtransactions. Released globally in 2020 after earlier Asian launches, the game runs on PS4, PC, Xbox, and Vita with cross-platform play. It follows a fleet of explorers battling the Falspawn, a virus-like threat spreading across galaxies. The story unfolds in episodes, with new content added regularly since launch. Players track community-run leaderboards for raids and events. Over five years since its Western debut, the game still updates with class rebalances and fresh zones.

Storyline

Home to four species - Humans, Newman, CAST and Deuman -the fleet known as "Oracle" has traversed numerous galaxies and discovered countless worlds. To further their purpose, groups known as ARKS were set up to explore and research newly discovered planets. However deep in space, a deadly threat would surface: the Falspawn. Spreading like a virus, Falspawn have infected inhabitants of various worlds. With the discovery of their weakness, Photons, ARKS gained a new purpose- to protect the universe from the Falspawn.
