Picross 2 is a logic puzzle game where players fill in grids to uncover pixel-art images. Building on its predecessors this sequel adds a world map to navigate as you progress through puzzles. Each challenge consists of four 15x15 grids that reveal larger pictures when solved correctly. Mario and Wario each have their own sets of puzzles offering different strategies and difficulty levels. The single-player experience focuses on deduction and pattern recognition with a straightforward interface that's easy to pick up but tough to master. The main upgrade from earlier entries is the added world map which gives progression beyond individual puzzles. The bigger grids increase complexity and reward careful thinking. Though it only launched in Japan fans of the series appreciate the expanded content and the return of familiar characters. Released in 1996 it remains a solid entry in the puzzle genre for handheld devices.
