Pid casts you as Kurt a boy stranded in a strange alien world. Use a beam-based propulsion system to leap solve puzzles and fend off robots while navigating castle ruins townscapes and more. The story unfolds through environmental storytelling as you help locals resist a hidden conspiracy. Combat mixes reflex-based shooting with platforming timing while co-op and competitive modes let you team up or challenge others. The game’s handcrafted visuals and synth-heavy soundtrack stand out creating a cohesive retro-futuristic vibe. It won the 2012 European Games Award for Innovate Newcomer and still holds a 78 metascore. Available on PS3 PC Xbox 360 and Mac since October 2012 it balances creative mechanics with a brisk narrative. The co-op features remain its strongest hook letting players combine abilities to tackle tougher sections.

Storyline

Pid follows the story of a young boy named Kurt, who is left stranded in an alien world. Kurt must travel through a number of different places; including parts of a castle and various places within a town, while defeating robotic enemies and befriending some of the locals in their struggle against a massive conspiracy so that he can return home. Kurt's primary method for traveling and solving puzzles is a beam that he is able to propel himself with.
