Pikiinya! is a puzzle game where players stack falling blocks to keep a group of hyperactive penguins happy. These penguins bounce and spin with each placement but calm down when grouped together. The story has you defending them from poachers, scientists, and other troublemakers across increasingly tricky levels. Controls are straightforward but the pacing gets frantic as the difficulty ramps up. The 1997 Super Famicom release leans into chaotic fun over precision. The penguins' exaggerated expressions and animations steal the show, designed by Tamakichi Sakura who also did Super Mario Adventures. Voice actress Maki Yagita brings energy to the cast. While not widely known outside Japan, it has a small following for its offbeat charm. The mix of stress-inducing puzzle mechanics and quirky characters creates a weirdly addictive experience.
