"Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is a metroidvania with art direction reminiscent of 1990s handheld games and a huge map packed with puzzles, secrets, and backtracking. The system of upgrading via contracts is original and introduces significant strategic choices, while yoyo tricks offer a variety of approaches to exploration and combat. The level design is precise and the badges allow you to deeply customize your play style. A brilliant game, with attention to detail and full of nerdy humor, it doesn't revolutionize the genre, but enhances its features."

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is a 2D top-down adventure where you play Pippit, a yoyo-slinging heir to a crime family caught in a power struggle. Using a mix of tricks and combat, you navigate cityscapes, take down rival gangs, and rebuild your clan’s influence. The game blends platforming puzzles with fast-paced battles, letting you chain yoyo moves for traversal and offense. A tense family dynamic drives the story as you navigate alliances with your estranged aunt, the family matriarch. The game stands out for its creative use of yoyo mechanics as both a tool and weapon, turning urban environments into playgrounds for clever problem solving. Pocket Trap’s knack for quirky, family-focused narratives shines here, pairing chaotic action with a surprisingly heartfelt generational conflict. With cross-platform support and a runtime packed with combo-heavy gameplay, it’s a brisk but memorable romp for fans of indie action puzzles.
