Planetoids is a fast-paced shooter where you pilot a spacecraft through a chaotic field of space rocks and hostile alien ships. Use thrust to dodge, rotate to aim, and blast away at anything that comes your way. The real challenge is balancing quick reflexes with careful positioning, every shot counts when cluster bombs start flying. A hyperspace escape button offers a last-second reset, but don’t rely on it too much. The action never lets up as waves of obstacles tighten the pressure. This 1982 ZX Spectrum title holds up for its tight, reactive gameplay and minimalist design. While it follows a familiar formula, the frantic pacing and sudden shifts in danger keep things engaging. Retro fans appreciate its no-frills approach, and the single-player format focuses entirely on raw survival. Simple controls and high difficulty make it a quick test of skill, but the lack of variety or progression means the thrill fades after a few rounds. Still, it’s a solid example of early arcade-inspired home computing games.
Stay cool and calm and you'll survive the onslaught of passing planetoids. Dodge and swerve using your thrust button, turn on a planetoid... fire! But beware - the alien ship moves fast to destroy you with the cluster bombs. And when it comes to the crunch, use your hyperspace button!
