Pokémon Ópalo is a fan-made RPG set in a crumbling Pokémon world 60 years after the original champions. You play as a rookie trainer in the coastal town of Pueblo Brisa, answering a cryptic call to rediscover lost prosperity through cross-generational battles and exploration. The game lets you collect and train Pokémon from multiple generations, challenge 16 gyms, and navigate a story where declining interest in competitive battling has left most leagues abandoned. Gameplay mixes traditional turn-based combat with quest-driven storytelling, set against a backdrop of economic collapse and fading traditions. The game’s strongest hook is its reimagined lore, painting a gritty alternate history where Pokémon culture is on life support. A mysterious celestial creature appearing in trainers’ dreams adds a layer of apocalyptic urgency to your journey. Creator Eric Lost brings a niche but dedicated fanbase from their previous project Pokémon Iberia. Available in Spanish only, it runs on PC and Android with a single-player focus. While not officially licensed, it offers a fresh take for players familiar with the series’ lore and mechanics.

Storyline

It's been 60 years since Coach Red became the Kanto Champion. Humanity has since experienced several economic collapses and humanitarian crises, which added to a change in the mentality of the population, has led to the closure of numerous Gyms and Pokémon Leagues, losing interest in the competition. The figure of the Pokémon trainer traveling through the region begins to look like a vestige of a golden past. Only the Cefira region remains a beacon willing to resist this change of cycle. This region is also the current world economic power and the most influential in international political decisions. Pueblo Brisa, in the rural part of Céfira. A young man receives a letter from an old childhood friend proposing an important mission. A discovery beyond the sea could bring prosperity back to the Pokémon world. Meanwhile, a strange astral Pokémon has appeared in the dreams of trainers, to announce the arrival of the end of the world.
