Pokémon Sunday is a retro-style RPG built with Gen 3-era tilesets but expanded to include Pokémon from generations 1 through 8 plus 10 original Fakemon and three new forms. You start with no memory near Germanium Village, following Professor Cherry’s advice to track down gym leaders who may know you. Each of the eight gyms features creative puzzles like rearranging tiles, timing jumps, or solving trivia while battling. Capture and train a roster that blends familiar faces and homebrew creatures to uncover a story about hidden corruption and your own past. The game stands out for its Light-type Eeveelution, a fast, fiery counter to dark and water types, and mechanics that let players join the Elite Four or challenge them for dominance. It includes bite-sized modes like a no-revive run or catching just one Pokémon per route. A community-driven Mystery Gift system lets players trade custom Pokémon using codes shared in-game. With over 16 animated moves and a synth-heavy soundtrack by Jeff Clements, it’s a free-to-play project that’s been updated since 2019 with new content like Gigantamax forms and postgame Mega Trainer challenges.

Storyline

The player washes up on the shores of the Igandea River near Germanium Village with no memory of who they are or how they got there. The local Pokemon researcher, Professor Cherry suggests visiting the gym leaders of nearby towns. As they are community leaders, he suggests they may recognize you. The player journeys around, meeting the gym leaders, and slowly realizing that while some people recognize them, they seem hesitant to help the player out. The player goes on a journey of rooting out corruption as they try to discover their identity.
