About

Pong Doubles turns the classic two-player table tennis formula into a team-based showdown. Four players split into pairs, with each group defending their side using two paddles. The goal stays the same, keep the ball from crossing your line, except now coordination matters as much as reflexes. The front player handles quick returns while the back partner covers the wider angles, making communication and timing crucial. It’s fast, chaotic, and turns simple Pong into a test of teamwork. Atari’s 1973 follow-up adds little to the original mechanics but multiplies the fun by two people on each side. The dividing line splits the screen into halves, forcing pairs to cover more ground without slowing the pace. While the scoring and physics stay faithful to the first game, the added layer of teamwork transforms it into a social experience. It’s a clever tweak that highlights how slight changes can revitalize a formula, especially when you’re laughing as much as you’re playing.
