About

Popcorn is a fast-paced arcade game where you control paddles to catch falling popcorn kernels before they reach the bottom of a popper. Each catch earns points but also speeds up the next batch, creating a tight loop of timing and reflexes. The gameplay is simple but intensifies quickly as kernels descend faster, testing your ability to keep up with the escalating chaos. The original 1989 version by Christophe Lacaze and Frédérick Raynal was a Breakout-inspired DOS title with a 7.3/10 average on DOS community boards. A 2013 remake by Raynal updated it for Windows and mobile, revamping all 50 levels with the original’s pixel art. While the new version drops the custom level editor from the first game, it preserves the twitchy action that made the early DOS release a cult pick.

Storyline

PopCorn is a 1989 Breakout clone by French developers Christophe Lacaze and Frédérick Raynal. The game was released as freeware for MS-DOS IBM PC compatibles with a CGA. The game was also released with the European version of Little Big Adventure 2.[citation needed] The game is in French and was programmed in assembly language for the intel 8086 CPU clocked at 8Mhz. In 2013, Popcorn was remade by Frédérick Raynal for both Windows and mobile devices under the name Popcorn 1988. It contains a full remake of all 50 levels using the original game's visuals. However, it lacks the level editor featured in the original, which allowed for custom level sets.
