Pope-ye is an action-platformer built around the 1984 Nintendo title. You play as the sailor fighting enemies, collecting items, and solving environmental puzzles. The gameplay mixes platforming jumps with punch-based combat. Eating spinach grants temporary strength to break blocks and hit tougher foes. The mobile version has basic controls and a straightforward structure. The port carries obvious flaws but keeps the original's challenge intact. Some levels have wonky physics and audio skips, but the core mechanics hold up. It's free on Android and clocks in at around two hours of playtime. Player feedback is split between those nostalgic for the retro design and others turned off by technical hiccups.
