Predator 2 casts you as Lt. Mike Harrigan in a third-person isometric shooter split across seven levels inspired by the film. You navigate open spaces filled with disposable enemies, one-way doors, and scattered upgrades including alien tech like the Predator’s plasma caster. Each stage tasks you with rescuing hostages while fending off waves of gang members and their leaders. A central timer adds urgency, leave hostages too long and the Predator incinerates them. Weapons range from standard fire arms to overpowered alien tools, with points earned by collecting drugs dropped by fallen foes. What sticks is the tense balance between combat and rescue, amplified by the ever-present threat of the invisible Predator. The lack of film audio is offset by stills used to frame levels, giving it a stripped-down but punchy arcade vibe. Released across Sega’s 16-bit and 8-bit systems in late 1992, it’s a brisk, action-forward take on the IP with quirky mechanics like automated drug pickups and one-way maze design.
Loosing based on the events of the film. Players guide Lt. Mike Harrigan as he tracks the Predator through seven levels based on the film. Mike's primary concerns are the hostages held around the levels, and the legions of gang members out for blood. He also has to contend with the Predator, both as a boss at the end of each level, and as a time limit - if the player takes too long to rescue a hostage, the Predator will blast the hostage with his tri-laser.
