Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon is a side-scrolling brawler that lets one or two players take control of iconic characters from the anime. Choose from five original Sailor Soldiers and battle through eight stages set in varied locations. Each level is packed with waves of enemies to punch, kick, and crystal-blast into submission. Collect dropped items to heal, earn points, or stockpile up to five crystals for charged special moves. When things get tough Tuxedo Mask swoops in with a rose to turn the tide. The game blends fast hand-to-hand combat with timed attacks and co-op teamwork for arcade-style action. Based on the first arc of the anime this port brings the Dark Kingdom saga to arcades with flair. Fans will recognize villains and settings from the series while the gameplay leans into simple but responsive mechanics. Though it sticks close to the source material the focus on co-op and power-ups adds replay value. Released in 1995 it holds up as a colorful entry in the beat ’em up genre. The arcade version remains the most popular iteration with its punchy animations and tight controls.

Storyline

Loosely based on the first Dark Kingdom arc of the Anime. Players take control either of the five original Sailor Soldiers across eight stages, each one set in a different location, and fight against an assortment of enemies and villains from the series in order to defeat Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom.
