About

Prisoner 2 is a graphical adventure game that reimagines the text-only original. You play a captive on a remote island where every building and path is monitored. The goal is to uncover secrets and escape while avoiding detection. Puzzle solving and stealth are key as you navigate 20 locations under constant watch. Released in 1982, it runs on DOS, Apple II, and Atari 8-bit systems. The game stands out for its tense atmosphere and methodical design. Players describe the island’s oppressive setting as memorable, with surveillance mechanics that force careful planning. Despite its age, 76% of users who started the game completed it, suggesting a rewarding challenge for those patient enough to master the systems. The updated visuals for the time add to the experience without overcomplicating the core mystery.

Storyline

As an incoming resident of The Island you are expected to behave. You have something we want... information. And you will remain our guest until we obtain it. Of course, at that moment you will have lost. Do not delude yourself. Escape is hardly possible. The Island keeps you under constant surveillance. We expect you'll never even find the bars. As Caretaker for the Master I have taken every precaution to ensure that your stay is... interesting. The Island has been newly landscaped and the Village sports a coat of high resolution paint (in thirty-two tantalizing flavours). Each of our twenty buildings promises a captivating experience.
