Proportionator is a cheeky 8-bit platformer where you play as Paavo, a shady character who swipes a gadget that lets him shrink or expand objects. Your goal is to help him flee a secure facility by creatively resizing items in each level to clear paths, bypass obstacles, and reach the exit. The game spans five distinct biomes, each with its own set of interactive objects and physics-based puzzles. You’ll manipulate everything from furniture to environmental hazards, using the Proportionator’s power to warp the world around you. Made in just 96 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2024, the game packs surprising depth for its rapid development. Its charm lies in the playful use of scale, turning mundane items into solutions, and a synth-heavy soundtrack that fits the retro vibe. While the runtime is brief, the clever level design and tactile controls make it a memorable indie pick. PC and browser players can tackle this compact adventure starting August 20, 2024.
