About

Psycho Killer is a 1992 adventure game that leans heavily into its multimedia gimmick. You navigate through a series of still images and short video clips, clicking to find objects or perform actions. The gameplay loops between static scenes and timed video prompts where quick clicks determine outcomes. The story follows an unnamed man who interrupts a violent chase in rural autumn and gets dragged into a violent pursuit. Progress depends on spotting interactive elements and reacting fast during video segments. The game stands as a relic of early CD-ROM experimentation. It uses pre-recorded video clips for key moments, a technique that felt cutting edge in 1992 but now highlights the era's technical limits. Limited interactivity and reliance on clunky point-and-click mechanics make it more of a historical curiosity than a lasting experience. Still, it offers a window into how developers pushed hardware boundaries during the rise of CD-based gaming.

Storyline

One of the plethora of multimedia video-streaming games that came out upon the advent of the CD-drive, Psycho Killer casts the player into the role of an unnamed male protagonist, who was one day driving through the countryside on a cold autumn day, and suddenly saw an escaped killer chasing a woman. Now the hero must figure out a way to find the killer and stop him.
