Pulsar II is an arcade action game where you pilot a spacecraft caught in a cosmic battle. The screen locks onto a central pulsar as you maneuver your ship in tight circles, dodging projectiles while firing to break through protective barriers. Each rotation, clockwise or counterclockwise, demands precise timing, balancing attack and defense in a chaotic dance around the core. The goal is simple: strip away the pulsar’s defenses before enemy waves overwhelm your position. Released at the end of 1981, this title showcases early Apple II gaming at its most frantic. Nasir Gebelli’s design turned limited hardware into a strength, creating a loop of tension and quick decision-making that still feels sharp today. Retro gaming communities often highlight its addictive difficulty curve, where each death resets you to the beginning but with a stronger push toward mastery. A brief but intense challenge that’s easy to pick up but tough to put down.
