Puzzle Club was a cancelled arcade project from Namco in 1990 that never saw an official release. You play with a prototype ROM by sliding tiles to match them into horizontal rows rather than assembling a picture. Once you complete a row, those blocks turn into immovable bricks. The game offers two distinct paths. Pacman Story uses animated characters from Pac-Land and shows a zoomed-in intermission after every level before ending on the credits at thirty levels. Floor Exercise swaps these for generic slot graphics and features an endless bonus round with a girl lifting weights, though you cannot actually finish that mode. This title stands out because it survived only as a dumped prototype file. The Pacman Story mode runs smoothly in emulators with its specific character animations intact. The contrast between the polished first mode and the broken second one gives the project an odd charm. Since there are no player ratings or community data for a cancelled game, we rely on the fact that fans of retro puzzle mechanics can still access this unique slice of arcade history through emulation today. It remains a curious artifact from Namco's development archives.
