Hudson Soft's third entry in their Puzzle Series brings Sudoku to the Nintendo DS. Released in 2006 the game uses the dual screens for traditional number puzzles with one screen showing the grid and the other tracking notes. Players fill grids with numbers following standard Sudoku rules across varying difficulty levels. The portability of the DS makes it a natural fit for quick sessions of logical problem solving. Known as Sudoku Gridmaster in North America and Sudoku Master in Europe the game capitalized on the puzzle craze of the early 2000s. While it lacks modern features like online leaderboards it offers hundreds of puzzles designed to challenge both newcomers and veterans. The straightforward approach and tactile pen-input system helped it stand out on a handheld known for innovation in casual gaming.
