QS Scramble

QS Scramble tasks you with piloting a spacecraft over an alien planet's surface while fending off attacks. You move vertically between two lanes, firing forward missiles or dropping bombs to destroy ground targets. Five missiles and three bombs can be active at once as you dodge descending aliens and ground-fired rockets. Fuel collects at periodic dumps to keep you airborne. The game ends when you run out of lives or fuel. Running on the Sinclair ZX81, this 1982 release captures the frenetic energy of its arcade inspiration with minimalist controls. The tight vertical movement and simultaneous weapon limits force quick decisions between offense and survival. While basic by modern standards, the relentless pacing and scarcity of resources make each run feel like a test of reflexes. Early home computer ports often struggled with arcade conversions, but QS Scramble manages to preserve the core loop of its predecessor in a surprisingly playable form.
