Quantum Castle is a children's quiz game where players guide a green creature named Gordy through a castle by solving math problems. Instead of fighting enemies, you answer arithmetic questions to unlock rooms and collect dragon treasures. The game targets preschool-level math skills, using a mix of addition, subtraction, and basic logic puzzles. Each correct answer moves Gordy closer to his goal while incorrect responses slow his progress. The interface is colorful but minimal, focusing attention on the problems and a small animated character that reacts to your answers. Released in 1995, the game stands out for its straightforward educational approach and lack of frills. It avoids violence or complex narratives, making it one of the earliest examples of edutainment designed specifically for very young players. With no multiplayer modes and a single, linear path through the castle, it prioritizes simple, repetitive learning over modern mechanics like branching storylines or adaptive difficulty. Community records show it remains a niche title, often remembered by Israeli players who grew up in the mid-90s. Its charm lies in its earnest attempt to make math practice feel like an adventure.
Gordy's small green furry creature, resembling either a goblin or a troll, enters the very castle indicated in the title in order to take possession of the treasures of the dragon living there - but for this he will have to go through many rooms filled ... not enemies, but arithmetic problems for preschool age. From the splash screen one might get the impression that this Gordy only meets us at the gates of the building, but the final video makes it clear that we played for him.
