"Raging Justice isn't going to win any awards for originality or narrative depth, but it succeeds in picking up the often neglected scrolling fighter, dusting it off and sending it out with a fresh pair of clothes and some new ideas. The extra buttons are put to good use, giving you a wide array of offensive options when you're in the thick of things, and the ability to arrest enemies adds a layer of strategy to the otherwise mindless action. When played solo the game is perhaps a little too unforgiving to recommend to everyone, but when you rope in a second player it becomes one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences on Switch; working together to clean up the streets is fun, but you won't be able to resist occasionally stabbing your ally in the back, just for old time's sake."

About

Raging Justice is a 2D brawler that lets you play as either a lawman or a loose cannon. You and a buddy can team up to smash through 12 levels of street brawls, yardwork carnage, and boss fights. Each movestring feels punchy with combos, grapples, and environmental weapons. Your choices during fights determine whether you cuff foes or beat them senseless. The story follows two cops clashing with a crime syndicate, but the real hook is the flexibility to play nice or go full sociopath. The stop-motion inspired visuals pop with color and chaotic energy. A 78% Metacritic score suggests it's a solid pick for fans of old school beat ’em ups with modern polish. The soundtrack cranks up the mayhem with synth-heavy tracks. With local and online co-op options, it’s easy to see why players return for the over-the-top action and branching outcomes. The Switch port also makes it a portable punchbag of fun.

Storyline

In a city held to ransom by a mysterious crime lord, two maverick cops, Nikki Rage and Rick Justice, fight to prove that no-one is above the law. Whether you dare to take on the criminal world alone, or enlist a friend in a co-op attack, Raging Justice delivers a multitude of ways to defeat your enemies. As you are smashing through a bar fight with a bar stool, mowing down enemies on a lawnmower, or battling terrifying bosses, you can choose to play as good cop or bad cop. Will you arrest the criminals, or pummel them to the ground? The path you choose has consequences and leads to alternate endings.
