About

Ragnarok Tactics is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements set in a fractured world still reeling from ancient conflicts. You lead a team of fighters across grid-based battlefields, balancing offensive pushes and defensive positioning. Each character has distinct abilities and growth paths, letting you tailor builds to exploit enemy weaknesses. Missions blend combat with exploration as you navigate a war-torn peninsula where every decision impacts future encounters. The game stands out for its deep tactical layer and branching story outcomes. Battles require careful resource management and adaptive strategies, with terrain and timing often deciding victories. While the narrative leans into familiar fantasy tropes, the political tensions between factions add layers to the conflict. Longtime fans of the Ragnarok series may appreciate the lore connections, though the game holds up as a self-contained strategy challenge. Its 2011 release on PSP cemented it as a strong entry in the handheld tactics genre.

Storyline

Many centuries after the legendary Holy War that forced humanity to erect a magical barrier to keep both gods and demons from overrunning their world, the Branshaldo Empire and the Aura Republic engaged in an extended war for control of the Grantria Peninsula. The conflict eventually ground to a halt and an uneasy truce was reached, as neither nation had the resources to continue fighting. Even so, the animosity between the two parties never faded, but smoldered beneath the surface, always threatening to explode into flames. In the resulting tenuous peace, the people of the peninsula began to resume their normal lives, always aware that the war could resume at any time. It was against this backdrop that the protagonist begins their fight against rival factions, hordes of ravening monsters controlled by enigmatic puppet masters, and even their own dark impulses...
