Raiden Trad is a vertical-scrolling shooter that drops you into chaotic aerial combat. You control a jet that fires in all directions while collecting power-ups to upgrade weapons or switch between regular and homing missiles. The game gives you a stock of bombs to clear crowds of enemies when things get tight. Every stage ramps up the action with swarms of targets and ends with a towering boss or two. The simplicity of its systems lets the intensity shine. The homing missiles add a layer to targeting while bombs force you to weigh risk versus reward. Though it’s over 30 years old it still plays with the punchy rhythm of classic arcade ports. The single-player campaign is short but packed with relentless action that’ll test your reflexes from start to finish.
