Rendering Ranger R2 is a side-scrolling shooter-platformer with pre rendered 3D environments and a post apocalyptic setting. You play as a soldier fending off alien invaders using a arsenal of color coded laser guns found in floating orbs. Each weapon type offers distinct firing patterns and damage output. The game emphasizes precision over power with three to seven starting lives and no continues. Taking five hits or falling into pits results in instant death. Levels blend shooting and platforming challenges as you navigate destructible terrain and enemy swarms. The game only launched in Japan in late 1995 under its full title while a western release as Targa was scrapped due to publishing issues. Developed by German studio Rainbow Arts it features Manfred Trenz's signature visual style mixing polygonal environments with sprite based characters. Despite limited availability fans praise its tight controls and escalating difficulty curve. The lack of save points and punishing level design make it a niche pick but its 90s sci fi aesthetic and weapon collection system earned it cult status among retro gamers.

Storyline
