Repton is a maze-based challenge where you guide the titular hero through underground tunnels to grab all the diamonds in each level. Each room has a time limit and you have to dodge falling rocks and squishy enemies while solving puzzles to unlock safes. The twist is finding keys scattered around to release the diamonds trapped inside. It requires fast reflexes and careful planning to make it to the next stage without getting stuck or running out of time. With 12 progressively tricky levels, the game lets you jump ahead using passwords but warns you'll only earn respect if you beat it the hard way. Released in 1985 for BBC and Acorn computers, it’s a relic of early maze games that leaned into clever layout design over flashy graphics. The tight control and escalating tension of tight spaces and ticking clocks keep it feeling fresh even decades later.
