Resident Evil 4: GameStop Special Edition is a survival horror game where you play as Leon Kennedy, a government agent tasked with rescuing a kidnapped presidential daughter in rural Spain. The gameplay mixes tense shooting sequences with puzzle-solving and resource management. Players navigate a creepy, cult-infested village, balancing ammo and health items while fending off grotesque enemies. A co-op mode lets two players team up to survive the more challenging scenarios. This edition stands out for its collector-focused extras. The set includes a 20-page art book, a numbered laser cel print of Leon, and a metal tin case, making it a sought-after item among fans. Released in 2005 as a GameStop exclusive, it’s remembered for its limited availability and additional soundtrack CD in some copies. While the base game has aged well with its tight mechanics and iconic enemies, the special edition’s physical bonuses drive its nostalgic appeal. Many still praise its balance of horror and action, though modern players might find the difficulty curve steep.
The game's main protagonist is Leon S. Kennedy, one of the few survivors of the Raccoon City incident, who was recruited and trained by the US Government to become a special agent after they learned of his actions in Raccoon City. Now an agent for a special security agency, Leon is sent to Spain on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the President's daughter, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult organization.
