Revs is a Formula Three racing sim from 1984 that leans hard into realism. You control a car with weight distribution and tire wear that actually matters. Handling and physics feel deliberate not flashy. The tracks are based on real-world circuits but simplified to fit the hardware. Input is straightforward but mastering the balance between speed and control requires patience. The BBC Micro and Commodore 64 versions share the same core design though the C64 version has sharper visuals. Geoff Crammond's attention to detail in Revs set a standard for racing games even if hardware limits kept it from full grandeur. It’s a direct ancestor to his later Formula One Grand Prix series which refined these ideas into a long-running classic. While no modern scores or community ratings exist the game’s influence is well noted among retro racing fans. Its focus on mechanical authenticity over spectacle makes it a quiet standout in early 80s sim racing.
