About

Richard & Alice casts you as a man trapped in a snowbound cell with a computer and a TV while his sister shares a similar fate next door. You’ll figure out their tangled past through environmental puzzles, cryptic dialogue, and fragmented memories. The gameplay loops between exploration and deduction, using limited tools to piece together why they’re imprisoned and what happened to the world outside. A bleak, slow-burning narrative unfolds as you decode clues hidden in weather patterns, family photos, and the strange programming on Richard’s TV. The game’s minimalist design and emotional weight set it apart. Players praise its ability to build unease through sparse storytelling and atmospheric detail, like the way snow accumulates on the windows or how dialogue shifts with the time of day. With a 78% on Metacritic and a cult following, its strength lies in letting silence and setting do the heavy lifting. The puzzles aren’t complex but serve the story well, making every click feel like a step deeper into the characters’ fractured minds.

Storyline

Richard and Alice are prisoners. Both their cells have a leather sofa and a state-of-the-art computer. But only Richard’s has a TV. Outside, the snow falls. It has done for some time. Elsewhere, they say, parts of the world have been rendered an inhospitable desert, the earth parched and cracked. People live in the zones now. The lucky ones, anyway. Richard and Alice have secrets.
