About

Rifts Promise of Power is a tactical RPG built around turn based combat with an Action Point system that lets you plan moves carefully. You pick from three starting classes each with distinct playstyles Mercenary for brute force Psionic for mind powers or Magic User for spellcasting. As you level up you branch into specialized roles like Borg tech hybrids or Ley Line Walkers that tap mystical energy. The system encourages mixing abilities to exploit enemy weaknesses with each decision tracked through a grid based battlefield. The game stands out for its deep class customization despite a limited initial roster. While only three base classes are available the late game unlocks add meaningful variety letting you shape your character toward offense support or hybrid builds. The Elemental Fusionist a class created specifically for the game became popular enough to make it into official Rifts rulebooks a rare feat for video game content. With its focus on strategic positioning and skill combos it remains a solid pick for fans of methodical turn based gameplay.

Storyline

Character classes available in Promise of Power represent a broad but shallow sampling of the hundreds presented in the RPG series. There are three proto-classes from among which players can select at the outset of the game: Mercenary, Psionic, and Magic User. Upon reaching fourth level, players may choose a specialization such as Borg, Burster, or Ley Line Walker, some of which are restricted based on proto-class. One character class specially designed for the game – the Elemental Fusionist – was adapted into the Rifts Ultimate Edition core rulebook.
