About

Riot Zone is a side-scrolling brawler where two heroes punch and kick their way through waves of enemies in a neon-soaked urban setting. You play as Hawk and his partner Tony, fighting through the streets of Kowloon to rescue a captured girlfriend from the Dragon Zone syndicate. The game blends fast-paced beat 'em up action with simple but responsive combat mechanics. Each level is a gauntlet of mooks and mini bosses, with co-op play letting two players take turns in the front line. The game stands out for its straightforward two-player co-op and retro aesthetic that feels like a direct port from arcades of the early 90s. While the graphics and sound are unavoidably dated by modern standards, fans of classic brawlers praise the tight controls and chaotic fights. A cult following has kept it alive in retro circles, with some community guides noting it’s one of the first games to let partners switch places mid-fight. Not much else like it exists in 2024 but it holds a strange charm for those into the genre’s roots.
