Rise of The Kasai is an action-packed sequel that splits its story between two time periods. You play as Griz and Baumusu to uncover events leading up to the hero Rau’s mysterious death, then switch to Rau and Tati to see what happened afterward. Combat uses a beat-'em-up rhythm with a targeting system that lets you track enemies in chaotic fights. Each character has distinct moves and abilities, and an AI-controlled partner assists during stages, covering flanks or using special attacks. The game emphasizes fast movement and timing to survive waves of foes. The targeting system stands out as a clever way to manage multi-directional battles without overcomplicating controls. While the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 4 versions share the same core mechanics, the older title’s return on newer hardware might surprise some.
