About

R?MJ: The Mystery Hospital puts you in control of characters trapped inside S.T.G. Hospital after a motorcycle accident leaves them stuck with no way out. You move by watching pre-rendered video clips that play based on your choices, creating a movie-like flow rather than traditional real-time action. The plot follows Hajime and Tomowo as they search for their injured friend Ryo while dealing with a deadly virus and strange paintings hinting at an ancient legend called Asmos. A special five senses button lets you check smells or sounds when characters ask specific questions, adding another layer to your investigation. The game runs on two discs for PlayStation but fits everything onto one for the Saturn, showing how much video content is packed into this release. Players often mention the unique movement style sets it apart from other adventure titles of the late 90s, though the heavy reliance on cutscenes can slow the pace down. Community discussions highlight the creepy atmosphere and the mystery surrounding the Asmos Legend as key draws. It remains a niche title that fans of interactive horror remember for its ambitious video integration and distinct visual storytelling approach.

Storyline

The events of R?MJ take place in the summer of 1999. Hajime and Tomowo rush to the S.T.G. Hospital after hearing their friend Ryo was in a suspicious motorcycle accident, but they're trapped in the hospital after an explosion seals their exit. Together with Aya, a nurse who looks after Ryo, Hajime and friends much find a way out while a deadly virus threatens to end their search for freedom. There's something else amiss about this hospital, however. Strange paintings depicting an ancient civilization decorate the hospital walls. Just what is the Asmos Legend?
