About

Road Trip lets you build and tweak cars across 100+ races and challenges. Start with a random vehicle and basic parts then use winnings to swap engines suspension and paint in a parts shop with over 250 options. The open world lets you take on races side quests or roam without pressure. Play solo or with others in split-screen modes that focus on friendly competition over story depth. The sandbox approach stands out most. With no strict path you can grind for upgrades or chase hidden rewards scattered in the environment. Community forums note the humor in the setup where winning a presidential race is the end goal. While the 2002 visuals feel dated the sheer variety of customization options keeps it engaging. Players often spend hours just experimenting with car builds and mini-games.

Storyline

The game starts off with the President expressing his desire to retire as president to his secretary. He says that whoever wins the World Grand Prix will get the chance to challenge him and take the presidency for themselves. The game then switches to a scene where the player is in the Q's Factory and is being informed by the Q's factory truck of the World Grand Prix. The player then starts with one of six bodies at random; a light green 1979 Mazda RX-7, a blue 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R, a silver 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, a red 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ, a bright yellow 1957 Fiat 500, or an orange 1996 Honda S-MX. The player starts with Normal parts, 1000 of the game's currency, and a C License. Next, the player is left to do whatever they choose, whether that be to race and or help other denizens in this sandbox world.
