RoadBlasters is a high speed racing game with shooting mechanics set in a desert environment. You race through 50 levels while managing a fuel gauge that depletes with every crash and obstacle you hit. Collect glowing orbs scattered around the track to refill your tank and move forward. The game lets you retry failed levels infinitely but the final challenge requires a single perfect run. Each completed race earns points with the last one giving a huge bonus if you make it across the finish line intact. The game launched in 1987 with versions on arcade cabinets NES and Sega Genesis. Higher difficulty modes let experienced players skip ahead to later levels in some ports but the 50th and final race always demands precision. Its blend of resource management and twitch reflexes earned it a cult following among retro gamers.
