Rock and Roots drops you into a magical forest battleground where your hands are the main weapon. Using VR controls you summon elemental guardians and cast spells by flinging gestures into the air. The core loop mixes real time combat with tactical planning as you choose which creatures to deploy and when to shift the fight's momentum. A branching story lets you play as a cunning trickster or a wise leader depending on how you handle boss fights and dialogue choices. The game stands out for its responsive gesture-based magic system which players on early access forums call "refreshingly tactile." While the 30-hour campaign has some grinding sections the optional dungeon builds let you test different guardian combos. Available only on SteamVR since February 28th it offers 8 player created spell variations through community workshops.
