Saboteur! is a 1985 platform adventure with a twist of combat. Players guide a nameless rogue through a series of shifting tunnels, dodging traps, squashing enemies, and collecting keys to escape each level. The gameplay mixes timed jumps, puzzle-solving, and direct confrontation with a limited set of moves. Levels grow tighter as the mission progresses, balancing speed and strategy to avoid getting crushed by collapsing walls or overwhelmed by new threats. The original ZX Spectrum version won "The Crash Smash" in 1985 and holds a 93% rating for its sharp design and replayability. This 2021 remaster updates the visuals and adds new stages that expand the story, though the core mechanics stay faithful. It retains the frustration and charm of 8-bit classics while giving players more to uncover about the saboteur’s mysterious backstory.
