About

Saint Dragon is a side-scrolling shooter that drops you into a galaxy under siege by rogue cyborgs. You take control of St. Dragon, a cyborg warrior using his own kind's strengths to dismantle their tyranny. The gameplay is straightforward but fast-paced: blast through waves of enemies while dodging attacks, with the screen scrolling horizontally as you progress. Originally hitting arcades in late 1989, it was quickly ported to a wide range of home systems, letting players battle across platforms from Amiga to ZX Spectrum. What stands out is its accessibility. The game made its way to over a dozen platforms in the early '90s, including budget systems like the ZX81 and MSX. Despite its simple mechanics, the challenge of managing firepower against relentless enemies keeps it engaging. A small but vocal group of retro gaming fans still praises its tight controls and the way it packed arcade-style action into home hardware. For anyone curious about classic shoot 'em ups with a cyborg twist, this one has a dedicated following.

Storyline

Cyborg Monsters have taken over the galaxy, reducing race after race into slavery. Being designed by man these beings have superior firepower and attack capabilities, and can only really be beaten by one of their own. St. Dragon the Cyborg Warrior chooses to fight back against this tyranny, and that is the role you take in this horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up.
