About

Saishuu Heiki Kanojo is a visual novel that mixes sci-fi action with dating sim mechanics. You play as Shuji, a high schooler navigating a relationship with Chise, who’s secretly being transformed into a weapon by government forces. As the world spirals into chaos from bombings, your choices influence Chise’s happiness meter, which determines how human, or weaponized, she becomes. The game balances slice-of-life moments like school scenes with sudden battles and philosophical questions about love versus duty. Each decision branches the story toward one of many endings, some focusing on romantic fulfillment, others on tragic sacrifice. The game stands out for its tonal contrasts, blending awkward teen romance with body horror and existential stakes. Players manage a delicate relationship while dealing with metal wings, military conspiracies, and a countdown to Earth’s destruction. Though released in 2003, its themes of identity and sacrifice resonate in visual novel circles. Niche but praised for its bold narrative risks, it’s a title that lingers long after the credits.

Storyline

Shuji and Chise are ordinary high school students that start dating after Chise confesses her love. However, Chise is very shy and Shuji is insensitive: neither know how to express their feelings very well, but they do indeed have feelings for each other. One day, while Shuji is shopping in Sapporo, unknown bombers attack the city in broad daylight. He and his friends run for cover, but notice a fast and small flying object shooting down the enemy bombers. Separated from his friends, Shuji wanders through the wreckage—only to stumble upon Chise; here she has metal wings and weapons—apparently grafted onto her body. She tells him she has become the ultimate weapon, without her knowledge or consent, and that she is seen by the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) as the last hope for defending Japan. Will Chise and Shuji's love blossom even if Chise slowly loses her humanity and becomes more of a weapon than a human being?
