About

Sakura no Toki: Sakura no Mori no Shita wo Ayumu is a visual novel that unravels the tangled lives of artists, creators, and the forces that shape them. Set in a world where beauty and purpose are deeply intertwined, it follows Naoya Kusanagi and others as they grapple with legacy, choice, and the weight of being "gifted." Players navigate branching narratives filled with philosophical questions about art, existence, and the cost of brilliance. Dialogue and decisions drive the story, with lush artwork and dense scripts exploring relationships that blur the line between fate and free will. This sequel expands on themes introduced in Sakura no Uta, delving into the unresolved threads of its characters. The writing leans heavily into abstract ideas about creativity and divinity, which may divide audiences, some find it intellectually engaging, others overwhelming. While player reviews are mixed, longtime fans of the series praise its emotional depth and the way it weaves personal struggles into a larger mythos. At 30+ hours, it demands patience but offers a layered look at how art and identity collide.

Storyline

The genius, the brilliant, and the ordinary. The weak God and the strong God. A story that goes further beyond happiness. That is the second act of the cherry blossom story. The genius chosen by God, the genius abandoned by God, and the ordinary man resisting God. What is the charisse of beauty? Why is its fruit given only to the chosen? "Where do we come from, who are we, where are we going?" A world where the light of causal exchange is bound together. Can the artist answer that question through beauty? This is the story told around Naoya Kusanagi after Sakura no Uta. The final scene from that hill, where Naoya and Ai descended while looking at the town of Yumebari. There were many untold stories leading up to that point. Two geniuses. The true story of Natsume Kei and Kusanagi Naoya. Why do they continue to be artists who fascinate people even after their death or when they break their brushes? The painter, Misakura Rin, is the embodiment of beauty itself. Why does she try to go beyond where they stopped? What about Hikawa Rina? Kawachino Yumi? What about Toritani Makoto? And Natsume Ai? All kinds of human thoughts intersect.
