Satazius is a retro-style side-scrolling shooter that channels the chaos of classic arcade cabinets. Pilot a customizable ship through packed levels teeming with enemies, power-ups, and destructible environments. Choose from 13 weapon types, mix two for simultaneous fire, and charge up a big attack to clear swarms of pirates. The stages twist with tight corridors, floating hazards, and massive bosses that demand precise timing. A pulsing electronic soundtrack and pixel-art visuals keep the energy high, blending frantic action with straightforward progression. Developed by ASTRO PORT, known for titles like Gigantic Army, Satazius leans heavily into throwback design without slowing modern play. Community reviews highlight its tight controls and replay value, with over 80% of players on Linux and PC returning for multiple runs. While shorter than some modern campaigns, its 45-minute runtime packs relentless action that fans of 1990s shoot ’em ups will recognize. The pirate-invasion story is thin but functional, serving as a backdrop for escalating waves of laser-fire chaos.
The year is 2051. Location: SATAZIUS, a long-abandoned planet. The cruiser Agano was on patrol when it was attacked and stricken by a confederacy of space pirates that had established a base on SATAZIUS. The pirates attacked the Agano intending to steal the assault ship ‘Trafalgar’ that was stowed aboard the Agano, but the Trafalgar made a successful emergency escape. The crew of the Trafalgar calculated the probability of successfully escaping the pirate overrun planet at 0.02%; the probability of charging into and successfully destroying the pirate base was 1%. Taking the higher probability escape plan, the crew of the Trafalgar turned their ship toward the pirate horde and began their charge into the heart of SATAZIUS.
