Screwball is a puzzle game where you craft items to solve over 80 stages. You drag objects into scenes to trigger chain reactions, using logic and a dash of absurdity. The world is rendered in hand-drawn animations that mimic a flipbook, with each frame popping like a comic panel. A single voice actor brings the characters to life, delivering deadpan quips that clash humorously with the chaotic physics. The game’s strength lies in its sheer volume of content. More than 500 craftable items mean plenty of experimentation, though some puzzles lean on trial-and-error. The story is sparse but woven into the environment through silly cutscenes. Developer Scott Tipton handles everything solo, from art to voice lines, giving the game a distinct, lo-fi charm. While later puzzles occasionally stumble into frustration, the first half keeps the momentum strong.
