You’re the captain of a ship battling underwater creatures in this fast paced arcade shooter. Your ship sits at the top of the screen as waves of sea monsters rise from the depths. Shoot them before they reach your hull, the deeper the creature, the more points you earn. It’s simple but frantic, with your fleet slowly destroyed as you try to rack up the highest score. Released in 1983 by Bit Corporation, Sea Monster was one of the earliest examples of this formula on the Atari 2600. It supports one or two players and offers tweaked settings for different challenges. While the graphics are basic by today’s standards, the responsive controls and escalating tension have kept it a niche favorite among retro gamers.
