Seaquest is a 1983 Atari 2600 shooter where you pilot a submarine to rescue divers under attack in the ocean. You navigate through levels filled with hostile fish, sharks, and enemy subs while managing a limited oxygen supply. Fire bullets to clear the path but watch the timer at the bottom of the screen, if your oxygen runs out, you drown. Surfacing to reset the counter is risky: lose a rescued diver if you bring back fewer than six. Each level raises the stakes as enemies grow faster and denser. The game emphasizes split-second timing and careful resource management. Co-op play lets two players take turns, though the real challenge lies in balancing combat and survival. As a 40-year-old arcade relic, it feels rough around the edges but showcases the Atari 2600’s ingenuity. Its simple loop of attack-run-replenish remains tense, especially at higher levels. With no modern polish or padding, Seaquest is a quick, twitch-driven test of reflexes from one of gaming’s earliest eras.
