Segapede is an unreleased action platformer that Sega Technical Institute worked on back in 1994. The project never saw an official launch and stayed hidden until developer Craig Stitt shared some gameplay footage and files online later. You can find a prototype ROM on the Hidden Palace site, which gives players a look at what this unfinished game actually was like to play. The most striking thing about this title is how it reused assets from Hidden Palace Zone, a level cut from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. These graphics served as placeholders during development but now act as the main visual style for the entire prototype. It feels less like a polished product and more like a glimpse into a specific moment in Sega's history where they were experimenting with level design before scrapping it. The game offers a rare chance to see what an unreleased Genesis title looked like before being cancelled.
